About

HyMaroc Limited is jointly and equally owned by Getech plc, a world-leading locator of subsurface resources and Sound Energy plc, the transition energy company.

Since 2024 Getech and Sound Energy have collaborated to explore for natural hydrogen and helium in Morocco. An initial phase of exploration, comprising of a regional screening study, identified areas of significantly elevated favourability for natural hydrogen and helium occurrence sufficient to warrant further analysis.

Getech and Sound Energy subsequently incorporated the subsidiary HyMaroc Limited to negotiate jointly exclusive rights for the exploration and exploitation of hydrogen and helium resources in Morocco, progressing towards necessary geophysical and drilling activities to unlock potential deposits.

About Getech: Getech holds a unique geoscience database encompassing the most recent 400 million years of Earth's evolution. This, coupled with geoscience expertise, AI-driven analytics and extensive GIS capabilities, enables valuable and actionable insights to support resource discovery and development.  Getech’s client portfolio is wide-ranging, from governments, municipalities, natural resources and energy companies to consumer goods and computing services companies.

About Sound Energy: Sound is a transition energy investment opportunity, listed on the UK AIM market of the
London Stock Exchange, with operations in Morocco centred around onshore exploration, development and
production of gas. The company has a 25-year development concession with a microLNG development underway at Tendrara, the first major onshore gas resource in Morocco, and a funded piped gas project. The LNG development will supply the industrial market; the piped gas development is for the power sector. Sound Energy therefore plays a pivotal role in responding to rising energy demand in Morocco and is facilitating the energy transition. This is further enhanced by Sound’s recent early-stage diversification into opportunities in renewable power generation in Morocco. Sound has strong stakeholder engagement and partnerships with leading Moroccan companies, thereby leveraging in country expertise in renewable energy projects.

By joining the highly complementary skills of Getech and Sound Energy, HyMaroc is uniquely positioned to explore for natural hydrogen, the emerging low-carbon resource that could materially accelerate the energy transition in Morocco.
